To provide safe, structured transitional housing to individuals at critical turning points — those re-entering after incarceration, survivors of domestic violence, and young adults aging out of foster care — with the professional support needed to achieve lasting stability.

Our Story

Built to Fill a
Critical Gap

Sunshine Pathways Foundation was founded by housing operators with deep ties to the Palm Beach County social service community. The Foundation was established to address a glaring gap that practitioners see every day: thousands of individuals each year leave incarceration, age out of foster care, or flee dangerous domestic situations with nowhere stable to go.

Existing shelter options are often short-term, over-capacity, or not equipped for the structured environment these populations need. We started with 16 beds and a clear mandate: professional, outcomes-focused transitional housing that earns the trust of the courts, agencies, and providers who refer to us.

The Foundation's approach is straightforward — provide a safe, structured environment with active case management, connect residents to community resources, and measure what happens. We report outcomes because accountability is part of how trust is built with the agencies and courts that depend on us.

Answers to the questions we hear most often from prospective residents, family members, and referring professionals.

Eligibility varies by program:

  • Reentry: Individuals released from county jail, state prison, or federal institution with a stable release plan and willingness to participate in case management and house rules.
  • Domestic Violence Survivors: Individuals referred by DV advocates, AVDA, shelter staff, hospital social workers, or legal aid who have completed an emergency shelter stay and need transitional stability.
  • Foster Care Youth: Young adults ages 18–24 aging out of or recently exited from the foster care system, referred by DCF, ChildNet, or a guardian ad litem.
Typical length of stay is 3 to 12 months, based on the individual's goals and measurable progress toward independent living. Stays are structured around a case management plan developed with each resident at intake. Extensions are considered on a case-by-case basis when residents are actively working toward self-sufficiency benchmarks.
No. Sunshine Pathways Foundation is a secular nonprofit organization. We are open to all individuals regardless of religious background, belief, or absence of belief. Our programs do not include religious content or requirements of any kind. We serve anyone who meets program eligibility criteria.
The Foundation operates through a combination of program fees (paid by residents who are able to contribute), charitable grants, and individual donations. As a 501(c)(3), the Foundation is eligible for government grants, foundation grants, and tax-deductible contributions. Residents who cannot afford program fees are not turned away — need-based accommodations are considered on an individual basis.
Yes, for reentry. We understand that release dates are not always predictable and that courts and parole officers sometimes need same-day or next-day placements. Contact us directly for urgent reentry placements — we will do our best to accommodate when bed availability allows. For urgent DV situations, please contact AVDA or call the National DV Hotline first; we can accept transitional referrals once emergency safety is addressed.
